DS Azalina Othman elected International Anti-Corruption Academy President
The International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA), founded in Austria in 2011, acts as a global center for research and a training hub for professionals in anti-corruption agencies.
The Malaysian foreign ministry announced that the unanimous election of Law and Institutional Reform Minister Azalina Othman Said as president of the 13th Assembly of Parties (AoP) of the IACA is a historic milestone, marking the first time a Malaysian has assumed this role. This appointment emphasizes Malaysia’s dedication to combating corruption and highlights Azalina’s leadership in legal reform and governance.
In its statement, the ministry thanked the IACA for its trust in Azalina, recognizing this as an affirmation of the government’s commitment to anti-corruption efforts. It further noted that Malaysia is committed to collaborating closely with the IACA and its strategic partners to strengthen anti-corruption measures and uphold principles of good governance and justice globally.
Malaysia, represented by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, actively participates in the IACA and has previously held the vice-presidency position four times.
